"I tell you, her sins-and they are many-have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love." - **Luke 7:47 NLT**
Worship is the response to "personal revelation of God. As we know more about Him, we can't help but give more of ourselves to Him. The passage mentioned above is about the anointing of Jesus by a "sinful" woman. She anointed Jesus' feet with both her tears of repentance and with the most precious of her material possessions. What a beautiful picture of worship!
What we witness in this story is a personal revelation, a sinner understanding just how much she needed Jesus' forgiveness and grace. Whether we realize it or not, you and I are the ones "forgiven much." This is where a lifestyle of great love begins. Religion, however, always diminishes the gravity of God's goodness, as seen by the Pharisees' disdain for what was happening in that moment.
I pray that you would be challenged this week to ask for a fresh revelation of God's goodness, to remember that He lifted you up from a pit deeper than you'll ever truly be able to measure until you reach heaven. The worship happening there now is surely without restraint!
